Several of the EMI problems investigated at the Missouri S&T EMC Laboratory have been due to a single integrated circuit. Often the problem device is not the fastest device and replacing it with another similar device from a different company eliminates the problem. Using integrated circuit designs and tools from Intel and Sony, the Missouri S&T EMC Laboratory is investigating EMC issues at the chip level. The long term goal is to develop guidelines for integrated circuit designs.
